These were the very first pop songs that started a new chapter in the history of Nepali music. His first song was "Biteka Jiwan Mero,” soon five other songs followed. In 2029 BS he started singing in radio Nepal which gave him an opportunity to deliver his music to a much broader audience. At the age of 13, he was already beating drums and playing electric guitars, which was quite unique to that time. He started his musical career with a Newari composition “Haya Haya Thoya Bacha”. His natural talent and confidence inspired him to compete in “All Nepal Music Competition” at the age of 10. Bikram started his artistic performance as a young child dancing in Newari tunes and participating in dabalis of the past.
Even though Bikram did not have formal training in music, he was able to move to a successful career. He has also gained inspiration for his musical success from his parents. Om Bikram Bista considers his musical talent as a precious gift from God. While pop bands like Karma and Uglyz made their way in 2003. New breed of Rock Bands made their presence felt with introduction 1974 A.D., Mantra, Robin and Revolution, Cobweb, etc. Following the bagdwon were Sanjeep Pradhan, Bhim Tuladhar, Babin Pradhan, Nepathya, Deepak Bajracharya and many more.
With Maya Meri Maya, Sanjay Shrestha and his band brought new wave in the music industry. It wasn't untill early 90's when Crossroad made their debut with Naya Mode, the second generation of Pop music amazingly rose to its pinnacle. With expection of few notable songs, POP songs (even called western music) couldn't make its presence felt due to heavy dominance of modern songs both by old and new generations of those days. Pop songs in Nepal originated in mid 60s itself with singers like Om Bikram Bista, Harish and even Kumar Basnet.
